Saying hi from New York

Hi All,

I wanted to introduce myself to the group. I’m based in Westchester County, NY, and am looking to connect with and learn from this community as I work toward supporting regional public safety and emergency management agencies.

My background started in the RC helicopter world back in 2009, and later transitioned into commercial sUAS operations. I run a drone services company, Flightlutions, where my technical focus is primarily on aerial thermal imaging, high-contrast heat signature detection, night operations, and deployments across both wilderness and urban environments. Alongside my aviation experience, my professional background is in Enterprise IT Management, which helps me approach drone operations with a strict focus on data security, governance, and technical systems. I am an ITC Level 1 Thermographer, a Part 107 Remote Pilot, and have completed foundational FEMA ICS training.

My goal is to learn best practices for mission deployment, understand agency integration requirements,…

ATSAR

Hello Folks, I'm Gary Bonneau with Alpha Team K9 Search and Rescue for the last 10 years. We're located in the Atlanta area and cover about 3-4 hour radius. The K9 side of the team has been around for about 23 years. I added the drone side of the team about 8 years ago, both aerial and underwater. We find the combination of K9s and drones to be powerful.

Looking forward to learning how to better use these resources and grow the drone side.

Idaho Mountain Rescue

Hello all, I am the Remote Pilot Team Lead for Idaho Mountain Search and Rescue. Joining here by invite from Kyle/MRA. We have been operating sUAS in our unit since 2017, and currently have 5 Part 107 pilots. I'm very interested in learning more about MRA training standards and how teams are navigating BVLOS ops within FAA regs. We are making moves toward NIST standards this year and want to make sure we are aligned with industry standards.

SAR in Alaska

My name is Dylan Youngblood and I am the sUAS Program Coordinator for the Department of Public Safety. Here in Alaska the Department of Public Safety is the lead agency for SAR, but we have many partners like the Alaska Mountain Rescue Group, the Military, and a variety of specialized groups like divers and K9 teams.

Larimer County SAR Colorado

I joined Larimer in 1982. Searching, tracking and technology were my specialties. Drones became interesting in 2020 and I got my 107 and a Mini Pro 3 in 2021. I attended the drone air show that the Drone Center of Colorado State University held in late 2023 where I met Chris Robertson. He started the drone program for LCSAR and asked me to help. I had retired from SAR in 2012 having lost the passion. I retired from Kodak in early 2023 and felt the tug of SAR and now have new passion.
