New to the SAR Group – Intro + a Free Tool for Volunteer Teams
Hey everyone, Robby Lewis here. I'm a retired USAF MSgt with 21 years of service. I've worked in unmanned aviation since 2011, and from 2017 until I retired I ran the SOCOM UAS schoolhouse. I'm now based in Milton, FL, where I run Telemetry Flight Services and sit on the Florida UAS Working Group.
I joined this group to learn from teams doing real SAR work and to share what I can.
I also want to mention something I built. FlightDesk (getflightdesk.app) is a program management platform for public safety UAS teams. It covers the work that happens around the flying: pilot currency and training, aircraft and battery maintenance, ORM and mission approvals, post-mission reports, and a readiness audit that shows where a program has gaps and tracks the fixes.
FlightDesk is free for volunteer SAR and CERT teams. No catch. You'd be helping me make it fit how SAR units actually operate.
If your team is still tracking currency in spreadsheets, or if you just want to compare notes on building a program, message me. I'm glad to be here

Update: signups are working again. I've temporarily turned off email confirmation, so you can sign up and get straight in.
After you sign up you may still see a "Check Your Email" screen. Ignore it, click "Back to sign in," and log in with the email and password you just used. You'll go right into setting up your organization.
If you tried earlier this morning and hit an error, check your emails for sign-in information or just sign up again at getflightdesk.app. If anything gives you trouble, message me here or feel free to send me an email.
