Celebrating Women in UAS and Public Safety: Second Official Meeting of Women DRONERESPONDERS

DRONERESPONDERS (DR) is taking a significant step towards empowering women in the field. The Women DRONERESPONDERS (WDR) Sub-Alliance will host its second official meeting during the National Public Safety UAS Conference, set for March 11, 2025, at the Festhaus in Busch Gardens, Williamsburg, VA. This event will bring together women leaders, operators, and advocates in public safety drone operations to share insights, strengthen networks, and spotlight the unique contributions women bring to this dynamic field.

“The WDR initiative provides a platform for mentorship, collaboration, and empowerment, ensuring women have the tools and resources needed to excel in UAS roles,” stated Charles Werner, DR director, who initiated the group. The steering committee includes Paige Fitzgerald, deputy director of Deleware emergency management agency, Chuck Moran, founder of Online Video Mastery, Katie Thielmeyer, risk reduction officer & UAS program manager for Woodlawn Fire Department in the Cincinnati area, and Amy Wiegand, DR board member and founder of Earhart Alden & Associates.

At the upcoming meeting, participants can expect to learn more about WDR leadership opportunities and connect with other public safety professionals, aligning with the broader mission of DR to advance lifesaving drone technology.
