On Wednesday, November 12th, DRONERESPONDERS and the Commercial Drone Alliance hosted a landmark gathering of the counter-UAS (cUAS) industry and SLTT (state, local, tribal, and territorial) grant stakeholders. Organized through the partnership of the White House FIFA 2026 Task Force, the forum brought together more than 400 government officials, public safety leaders, FIFA security professionals, and dozens of cUAS exhibitors.
Setting the Stage for FIFA 2026
The day began with remarks from Andre Giuliani, Executive Director of the White House FIFA Task Force, who emphasized that the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be the largest sporting event in history. He underscored President Trump’s commitment to ensuring that UAS security is treated with the highest priority, recognizing the unique challenges posed by drones in large-scale international events.
Funding Pathways for cUAS Technology
A key highlight of the forum was the announcement that grant funding for cUAS technology is now available, established through the comprehensive legislation signed by the President earlier this year. David Gudinas, Director of ONETH for FEMA provided attendees with a detailed briefing on how SLTT communities can access these funds, ensuring that local agencies are equipped with the tools and resources needed to safeguard their jurisdictions.
Collaboration in Action
What made this event truly remarkable was the speed and efficiency with which it was organized. Thanks to the dedicated efforts of CDA and DRONERESPONDERS personnel, the forum came together in record time—demonstrating the power of collaboration across government, industry, and public safety sectors. Fittingly, the event coincided with the 10th anniversary of the Commercial Drone Alliance, underscoring a decade of progress and partnership in shaping the future of unmanned systems.
Looking Ahead
As the countdown to FIFA 2026 continues, the cUAS industry and SLTT communities stand at the forefront of innovation and preparedness. DRONERESPONDERS extends its gratitude to the CDA for their continued partnership and applauds the White House for driving forward initiatives that strengthen local communities and enhance national security.
This forum was more than an event—it was a milestone in building resilience, fostering cooperation, and ensuring that the world’s largest sporting event is protected by the strongest cUAS capabilities available.
