LVMPD named official “host agency” for public safety drone training event offering several days of educational content focused on UAS program management and tactical operations
LAS VEGAS – September 2, 2021 – The Airborne International Response Team (AIRT), the leading 501(c)3 non-profit organization supporting the use of unmanned systems for public safety and disaster response – and official home of DRONERESPONDERS® - has announced the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) will serve as the official host agency for the DRONERESPONDERS Public Safety UAS Summit at Commercial UAV Expo Americas from September 7-9 at The Mirage Hotel and Casino.
As official host agency, LVMPD will join forces with AIRT and Commercial UAV Expo News to help provide two days of targeted educational programming for public safety unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) leaders, program managers, and emergency remote pilots interested in using unmanned aviation tools for a wide range of mission-critical emergency operations.
“Drones and related technologies are rapidly evolving how public safety agencies conduct a variety of mission-critical operations,” said Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Sheriff Joseph Lombardo. “We welcome the opportunity to work with DRONERESPONDERS to share our knowledge and experience surrounding the use of unmanned systems to help serve our community.”
“We are thrilled to have Sheriff Lombardo and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department serve as the host agency for the DRONERESPONDERS Summit at Commercial UAV Expo,” said Christopher Todd, Executive Director of AIRT, the official home of the DRONERESPONDERS program. “The LVMPD UAS team has been at the tip of the spear of public safety agencies embracing unmanned aerial vehicles. Their expertise will greatly enhance our educational program.”
The DRONERESPONDERS Public Safety UAS Summit at Commercial UAV Expo Americas in Las Vegas will debut an exciting new format featuring two separate days designed to educate and prepare UAS program managers and remote pilots at every experience level for emergency drone operations:
1. Wednesday, September 8 – Program Management Day: will highlight proven strategies and best practices for UAS program managers at law enforcement, fire service, EMS, and other emergency response organizations who have created successful drone programs.
2. Thursday, September 9 – Operations and Tactics Day: will showcase how first responders are using drones to overcome challenges and solve complex operations problems during real-world incidents. Group discussions will help to create an immersive learning experience for attendees.
DRONERESPONDERS is assembling an illustrious roster of public safety UAS professionals from across the U.S. to teach attendees how to properly build and manage an emergency response drone program. Attendees will hear real-world case studies and explore after-action reviews of how public safety agencies have successfully used UAS to help save lives and protect property.
The full program schedule for the DRONERESPONDERS summit will be updated continuously as the event date nears, so check expo.droneresponders.org often for the latest program sessions and speakers, and to register for the event.
