Memorandum of understanding unveiled at Southeast Regional UAS Rodeo establishes framework for joint cooperation supporting first responders who operate drones

HUNTSVILLE, AL – The Unmanned Aircraft Systems Information Sharing Analysis Organization, Inc. (UAS ISAO), an Alabama-based 501(c)6 organization fostering stakeholder collaboration within the public safety unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) sector, and DRONERESPONDERS, the world’s fasted growing non-profit program supporting public safety UAS, today announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) and collaboration.

The MOU, unveiled at the Southeast Regional UAS Rodeo hosted by UAS ISAO, establishes a framework for the two organization to collaborate in supporting the education and deployment of drones by America’s first responders and emergency management professionals.

“We are very excited to join with DRONERESPONDERS to help expand the education and use of unmanned aircraft systems among the public safety sector,” said Chad Tillman, President of UAS ISAO. “There is an incredible wave of momentum surrounding UAS for emergency response, and this new relationship will enable us to work together toward achieving the goals of both organizations.”

UAS ISAO was established under guidelines issued in the President’s 2015 Executive Order 13691 which directed the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to encourage the development of ISAOs. The mission of UAS ISAO is to foster stakeholder collaboration to enhance safe, effective, and efficient UAS operations within the public safety sector.

“The entire Huntsville region has an amazing legacy of innovation and service to our nation,” said Charles Werner, Director, DRONERESPONDERS. “We are proud to partner with UAS ISAO to help push that history forward into this new era of unmanned systems for public safety.”

Jay Willmott, a native son of Huntsville and DRONERESPONDERS Advisor with a long-tenured history in the unmanned systems industry, has been appointed to serve as the key liaison from DRONERESPONDERS to UAS ISAO. He will work directly with Phil Owen, Chief Operations Officer of UAS ISAO, to facilitate the mutual cooperation between the two organizations.

“This mission is one that is very close to my heart for several reasons,” said Willmott. “Huntsville has always been a very special place for me, and I look forward to working with Phil and the entire UAS ISAO team to devise a strategic roadmap that will enable both organizations to thrive.”
